I've known how to knit since I've been very young.
My mother taught me.
13 is the earliest I can remember but I think it may have been sooner than that.
I do think she did teach me to crochet but I never kept up with it.
Knitting has always been more of an enjoyment to me. I think I can honestly say that knitting is one of those things that I feel when I do it with my mom, I feel extremely bonded to her. I feel like a child again when I sit with her... protected and guided.
All my life I remember my mom with her knitting needles close by; car rides, vacation trips, late night movie watching... she was always knitting. I can still hear her counting stitches under her breath.
Today when I count my own stitches I automatically think fondly of her.
Of course, everyone knows my Oma who knits for Oms Knits. So I guess you could say its in the blood.
Being hooked on bunnies I wanted to see if I could knit a bunny.
Out of the inquisition came Matilda.
Matilda took me much much longer than any of my crochet bunnies.
But so so so worth it to me.
Again, my keeper heirloom she will stay.
Here is my Matilda
And yes she still needs a strap to her dress.
